The recent development by RTE (France) and IPS of Grid-Driven Analytics has proved to be a powerful approach for managing integrated and interdependent risks, costs and benefits associated with its Transmission and Telecommunication Networks. Both from an Asset and Overall Network (Grid) Performance Management perspective, Grid-Driven Analytics implement management of risks associated with safety, environment, regulatory and social factors.

RTE is the Transmission System Operator (TSO) authority, responsible for ensuring that France’s transmission system for electricity is safe, environmentally sound and cost-effective. Overview of RTE statistics is shown below…..

RTE and IPS implemented a Proof of Concept (PoC) study to determine the appropriate design for the Grid-Driven Analytics System, which was successfully demonstrated (see below)

The conceptual diagram for the system that was implemented is as follows:

To quote Mr. Paul Penserini, Asset Management team in RTE:

“Because electricity always finds the best path from generation plants to consumption centers, not all network assets have the same importance. IPS understands this and develops specialized tools to take it into account. Innovative IPS developments open up new opportunities for even more efficient asset management of power grids”.

RTE and IPS continue to work closely to successfully achieve powerful outcomes for Grid Analytics, at the forefront of innovation in the Global Energy Supply Industry!
