“It is my good luck to be a programmer. I was able to start from zero and support myself.”
Mawaheb talks to a colleague at IPS Energy, a digital solutions company for the energy industry, in his office in Belgrade. Mawaheb recently married the love of his life, Ida. ; In 2012, Mawaheb Seraj Eddin fled Aleppo after taking part in demonstrations. In his newly adopted country, he met and married the woman of his dreams, Serbian artist Ida Perisic. Ida’s dog Lulu and Mawaheb’s cat Fidel have also learned to live together in their happy household. Mawaheb works as a software programmer and has never been unemployed in all his time as a refugee. In Turkey, he worked for a global IT firm and in Serbia, once he had full refugee status, he was eligible to apply for jobs. By the end of 2018, Serbia was home to 4,300 refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants, with most living in 16 governmental reception and transit centers.

Today, we would like to share a story outside of the IPS-offices in order to show that skills don’t have borders. This is the story of our colleague Mawaheb, who arrived some years ago to Serbia from Syria to start a new life. As a computer programmer, Mawaheb has found the way to introduce himself into a new country culture, to create a family and to find not only a job but a position in a company, where he can develop himself, convert his passion into action and continue growing within a diverse team. In IPS-Global Group there is only place for cooperation, innovation, and integrity. We are a team of people who has different backgrounds and ideas and who works in offices across the globe.
